Meet Kuku, a young Nigerian whom we photographed for our Brum Street Style Project in the city centre on Saturday. She is spotting a monochrome trend still current for autumn/winter 2013. She is wearing a neat white sweater from Debenhams and a black and white short flirty skirt that she adapted from a dress by herself. This proves that, when it comes to classics, you may not need to immediately reach for the purse. Chances are you’ve already got some key pieces in your wardrobe!

The classic black and white combo is spruced with a Dorothy Perkins cross pendant (a gift from her sister) and a delightful vintage camel bag decorated with a printed nautical scarf.

Kuku’s hair was done in Nigeria – but she says she knows how to do it herself.

She is interested in fashion and runs her own personal style blog.
