I have always assumed that National Hot Dog Day on 23 July is a US holiday, so a stream of articles implying that it is celebrated in the UK too that appeared in my news feed today took me by surprise. In sympathy with this great event so woefully ignored in our family I am sharing this Edinburgh street photography sequence.

The photos were originally taken earlier in the year as part of a quick urban photography challenge focusing on the colour red and signage in urban environment but hey, they do feature a hot dog stand and vendor (among other things) in their Scottish flavour – Gentleman Jacks.
